A Lesson Before Dying

In my english class this semester I had to read a book called A Lesson Before Dying. I thought it was going to be boring but it was beyond boring, in fact it was one of the greatest books I have ever read. So sit back and enjoy my synopsis of A Lesson Before Dying by: Ernest J. Gaines.

It is the late 1940's in small Gajun community in Louisiana. A man named Jefferson, is accused and found guilty and sentenced to death for a crime that he did not committ. In court his defense attorney calls him a hog and this upsets Jefferson's godmother, Miss Emma. So Miss Emma knowing she doesn't have much longer to live, asks Jeffersons old teacher, Grant Wiggans to help make him a man. He doesn't want to do it but Grant does it any way. At first Jefferson doesn't open up but by the end he opens up to Grant and is able to die a man.
